Grays Farm Man Remanded for House Break-In & Larceny

34yrs-old Jamal Michael-Pelle of Grays Farm was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison on Thursday, after he appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh in the St. Johns Magistrate’s Court, charged with House Break-In and Larceny.

He is accused of breaking into a Hodges Bay home earlier this month and stole a quantity of ladies clothing, shoes, handbags, cosmetics, jewelry, kitchen utensils, travel bags, garden pots, food items, perfumes, ornaments, stationeries, a quantity of CD’s, wall clock, bedside mats, among other items, all valued at $33,000. The home owner had recently returned to the island with the items and had them secured inside her property.

The accused, who was once employed as a cleaner at the said property, illegally entered the property on several occasions when the owner was away, and stole the items. He was spotted driving a Black Honda Inspire Motor car R2889, and was also seen distributing similar items from the said vehicle.  The police have since seized the vehicle and recovered a number of these items.

Meanwhile, Police are reminding the general public that it is an offence to receive or keep items that are stolen in their possession. An appeal is made to those who may have been approached or offered any of these items for sale; or may have seen the accused selling or distributing any of the mention items to contact the nearest police station, or call the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913\462-3914. Committal proceedings are set for May 14th, 2017.
