Following the reports of alleged bribery involving Caribbean Ministers, member of Parliament, the Hon. Asot Michael has mutually agreed to resign and “immediately demit his executive office”, according to a letter withdrawing the appointment of the Honorable Asot Michael.
According to sources within the Office of the Prime Minister, PM Browne advised the Governor General today, that all portfolios assigned to the Honourable Asot Michael are withdrawn immediately.”
The letter goes on to indicated that Mr. Michael is no longer a member of the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda, effective today, May 15th 2018.
Mr. Michael’s resignations comes after an April 2018 Court approved judgement between Hardip Singh aka Peter VIRDEE , Dieter TRUTSCHLER and The National Crime Agency in the UK, where it is alleged that he participated in a bribery scandal.
This would be the second time Mr. Michael, an elected member of parliament has had his appointment to Cabinet rescinded.
Hon. Michael, will however, remain a member of Parliament.
