Police cite alarming number of home invasions in four communities, women cautioned

Commissioner of Police, Wendel Robinson earlier this week spoke of the crime situation in the country on state media. There he mentioned, among other things, that while the crime situation in Antigua and Barbuda is “under control in comparison to previous years”, there are concerns about an alarming number of home invasions by masked men, which have been taking place within a four mile radius.

Police find condoms, lubricants, rag on ‘Panty Man’ attempting to break into Golden Grove home occupied by two women

A well-known felon is now in police custody assisting them in their investigations, after he was allegedly caught breaking into a Golden Grove home earlier in the week. Marvin Mitchel Duncan, 35 of Golden Grove, who’s commonly known to many as “Michael Francis”, aka “Panty-man” is now in police custody charged with ‘Breaking with Intent to Commit a Felony.’

Police Address Video of Handcuffed Man

The Police Administration addresses concerns raised over a video being circulated on social media, where a handcuffed man was allegedly left abandoned at the side of the road. The incident stemmed from a report of larceny, which took place in the Golden Grove area on Friday 22nd July, 2016. A Golden Grove woman called out to the police for assistance, after she saw a man stealing her 20lb propane gas cylinder from her yard.

Government moves swiftly to freeze assets of Bank alleged to be money-launderer

In keeping with its determination to uphold and implement a strong anti-money laundering regime in Antigua and Barbuda, the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Financial Services Regulatory Commission (FSRC)  have frozen the accounts of a Brazilian-owned offshore bank that has been in operation since 2006. The Government acted immediately in light of information from a Brazilian court that found a prima facie case of money laundering by certain Brazilian nationals and companies.

Police Drugs Eradication Successful – Two Thousand Cannabis Plants Uprooted

The Police continue to send a strong signal to those involved in the cultivation or trafficking of illicit drugs that it will not be business as usual. On Saturday, the Police Narcotics Department went on a Drugs Eradication Exercise in the Collins Area, and netted well over two thousand Cannabis plants. The plants were found growing on a large Cannabis Plantation among some bushes. A total of 2195 plants were uprooted and taken to Police Headquarters, pending further investigations into the matter. Urlings man charged with island’s 8th road fatality, nabbed driving without license, insurance

On Wednesday, the police arrested and charged 26yrs old Ruan Roberts of Urlings for Driving without a Driver’s License and Driving when not covered by Insurance. Roberts, has found himself in contravention of traffic laws once again, since he was charged in connection with road fatality of a British tourist.
