The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) strongly condemns the outrageous assault on the family of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, including his 6-year old child.
The ABLP has conducted a clean election campaign that has focussed on the political issues and the capacity of the UPP candidates to govern the country. But, it has not brought any of the family of the UPP candidates into the fray. In particular, it has strictly observed high principles by not involving their children.
The billboard erected by the UPP, which attributes disgusting comments to the Prime Minister and members of his family, especially his 6-year old son, is completely unacceptable behaviour.
It indicates the desperation of the UPP leadership and the depths to which they are ready to sink to vulgarise the campaign.
The ABLP urges every decent-minded person and organisation in Antigua and Barbuda, particularly the Christian Council to rebuke the UPP’s actions.
The ABLP also calls on the UPP to do the right thing and take down its billboard which, at the very least, is in extremely poor taste, and is not reflective of what Antigua and Barbuda is as a society.
