Regional Team to Assist in Barbuda Rebuilding Efforts

A 25-member regional team will be on island next week to assist with the rebuilding efforts on Barbuda. The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) will receive assistance from a 12-member delegation from Jamaica, along with 13 individuals from the Regional Security System (RSS). They will join a ten-member Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force team that is already carrying out work in Barbuda along with local contractors. Woman Charged for Importing Firearm

Police have arrested and charged 34yr-old Lois Aloma Stanislaus-Santana of Union Road Hatton, with Importation of a firearm and Transferring a firearm. Theses offences occurred between the 9th March, 2017 and 20th January, 2018. It is alleged that she is linked to the firearm, which ended up in the hands of convicted Bargain Center Supermarket manager, Kurt Micheal of Cedar Valley. Bay Street Man Fined for Importing Drugs in Speakers

The Dickenson Bay Street man, who Police charged last year April for importing drugs into the country through the Post Office, was fined $22,000 in the Court on Tuesday. Andre Wilfred Simmons appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh to answer charges of Possession of 99 Ecstasy tablets and Possession of 244.5g of Cannabis, Importation of ecstasy and Importation of Cannabis and being concerned in the supplying of both ecstasy and cannabis.
