Telecommunications Service Quality Assurance Unit Established

The Ministry of Telecommunications has established a Telecommunications Service Quality Assurance Unit to ensure that the quality of services provided by all telecommunications service provider is modern and optimal.

Speaking during a ceremony at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Telecommunications to mark the beginning of open competition in the provision of international telecommunications services, Minister of Telecommunications, Honourable Dr. Edmond Mansoor, says the Quality Assurance Unit will provide all Antiguans and Barbudans with an avenue to report concerns about poor quality of service issues from any telecommunications operator, particularly in the early transition days of the open competitive market.

“The Quality Assurance Unit, which will operate for three (3) months, will investigate any and all issues that are validly related to poor quality service, including issues related to inability to readily access mobile networks, inability to place overseas calls, poor audio quality of calls as well as call failures and call drop outs”, Minister Mansoor said.

The Ministry of Telecommunications has already been assured by all operators that the quality of services will improve in the short term.
