21 Year Old Youth Nursing Cutlass Wounds

The Police are investigating a report of wounding that left a 21 year old youth of the Dominican Republic nursing cutlass wounds at the Mount St. John Medical Center.

The incident took place early Sunday evening after the Police and EMS were summoned to a bar on Joseph Lane, where 21 year old Joban Santana of the Dominican Republic was attacked and severely wounded by a fellow national armed with a cutlass. It is reported that the youth was sitting at the bar, when a man walked up to him, withdrew a cutlass from his waist and began firing chops at him.

Three fingers from his left hand were completely severed; while two others were injured. He also suffered a laceration to the right forearm.

He was subsequently rushed to the hospital by the EMS, where doctors reported that, though the wounds are serious, they are not life threatening. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

In other police news, lawmen are investigating the circumstances surrounding a car fire which took place near the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium last Saturday night around 10:45pm.

It is alleged that a Potters man parked his white Honda Civic Type-R Motor car A35145 on the main road leading into Potters and went to get a haircut at a barbershop. Upon his return he discovered his vehicle was missing.

The vehicle was later discovered near the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium with its interior completely destroyed by fire.  A 15 year old boy of Potters was detained by the police in connection with the matter; however, he has since been released pending psychiatric evaluation.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Further, the Police are appealing to the general public to be extremely cautious when conducting financial transaction as it relates to Eastern Caribbean Currency; as they have since recovered some counterfeit One Hundred ($100.00) and Fifty (50.00) Dollar notes and believed that there may be others in circulation.
